A Crafty Ramadan Episode 1:
Sew Your Own Ramadan Calendar
Salamaalaykoum sister, I hope you are doing great and that you have started this year with energy and motivation! I have and I am happy to share my good vibes with you. I am especially excited about my current project: A Crafty Ramadan, during the next ten weeks I will be sharing DIY tutorials to help you get ready for Ramadan inchaAllah. The first episode of this series is an easy fabric calendar.
I have seen really beautiful ones on sale on instragram but I went for a very simple design to make this one beginner friendly. They are used to store treats to eat at iftaar time but I've also seen sisters put cards with stories about prophets, which I think is an amazing idea! You could do both or be even more creative and put gifts for your loved ones in it.
For this project, you only need:
- Canvas fabric or heavy weighted fabric
- A 20" dowel
- Some yarn or rope
- Acrylic or any pens that works on fabric
- Sewing machine, pins, ruler, tape measure, chalk
As you will see, I made some mistakes while making the calendar but I tell you how to avoid them. That's why I'm here, to save you time! I really hope that you enjoy making this first Ramadan project. If you have crafty kids, make sure to involve them and get them excited about this beautiful month inchaAllah.
If there is a particular project that you want me to make and share with you, let me know in the comments!
Also, I'm curious to know what do you do to get ready for Ramadan? Share your tips and tricks with me!
